It’s here again, the time when it gets dark earlier and tempts us to end the days cosily – with or without a fire. At the same time, the end of the year is approaching – sometimes with anticipation, but sometimes also with stress about everything we should or want to do.
Our latest Outturn is packed with bottlings aged between 4 and 31 years, from Scotland of course, but also from France via Israel to Taiwan and from the Caribbean.
This time, Julien Willems reports on the Warenghem Distillery from Brittany, the oldest distillery producing whisky in France. The former owner, Gilles Leizour, began to look closely at the possibility of whisky production in 1983, the year the Society was founded and in the middle of the Scottish whisky crisis. It took 40 years – but now the Warenghem Distillery has its own number at the Society and its first bottling.
You can of course, also think about gifts – why not share your whisky enjoyment with like-minded people in the form of a gift membership?
Speaking of like-minded people – to celebrate the Society’s 30th anniversary in Switzerland, we are planning a few special events outside of our tastings. The first is a visit to the Basel Tattoo on Tuesday 23 July 2024, where you can take a look behind the scenes with us and enjoy a snack with a few Society Drams in “The Last Drop” bar before the Basel Tattoo show kicks off. Tickets can be booked now!
Now all that remains is for me to wish you a peaceful pre-Christmas period. May you spend enjoyable, peaceful and relaxing moments with your loved ones.
Best regards
Patric Lutz
